Site Update

My site was brought down temporarily for a few links that were displayed. I guess the WordPress Gods don’t like certain types of content. I have rectified the situation and removed the content. Hopefully, everything will be fine now. I’ve also updated my side bar with new “My Savings” and “My Debt” information. My Emergency fund had a set-back sometime ago and I’ve just now managed to get it back over my original $1,000 goal. I’ve also started a Car Insurance/Maintenance fund so I can pay my car insurance all at once, which should give me a small discount, rather than paying it monthly. I also plan to first use my cash back credit card to pay for the insurance, and then pay the card off right away so I can get the rewards.

My debt climbed up higher than it was. Mostly due to the fact that my dogs all needed their updated shots and Heartguard and flea/tick medicine. That stuff is very expensive. I think from now on I will get the medicines over the internet through 1-800-PetMeds or another site like it.

It’s been raining here the last few days. I like rain, but can only stand so much of it. Hopefully this weekend will end up drying out. No big plans for now. Father’s Day is on Sunday. I haven’t gotten my dad anything yet. I’m a bad planner when it comes to Father’s Day. My dad always says he doesn’t want or need anything. But no worries, I will come up with something. I hope all of you have a great weekend. If you’re a dad, Happy Father’s Day in advance!!

Working on Goals

So far some of my goals have been easy to start and stay on track with. Some not so easy. My caffeine addiction is kicking my butt. I haven’t been able to limit myself to one can a day yet.  I’ve been out once with my friends’ so far.  I have been good about bringing my lunch to work every day. 12 days down, only 248 days to go. I’ve had only 1 No Drive Day and 4 No Spend Days. I’ve still been keeping track of my spending, but over New Year’s week I didn’t write everything down. So I’ll have to fudge that week a little. Now that I have a full month’s worth of spending tracked, I need to build a budget and really work on sticking to it.

2009 Goals

I’ve decided on some new goals for the new year. This is just a tentative list and I’m hoping to add to it later.

Bring my lunch to work everyday.

Cut down to one can of soda per day.

Pay all bills on time, if not early.

Eat out no more than once every 2 months (6 times per year max).

Avoid consuming alcohol, especially socially.

Limit going to the movie theater to no more than once every 3 months (4 times per year max).

Only rent movies from the redbox on Mondays (free codes day).

Drink more water (at least 8 – 8oz glasses per day).

Try to reduce the amount of sodium I consume.

Exercise for at least 30 minutes per day.

Eat more fruit and yogurt.

Unplug all appliances and electronics when not in use.

Max out my HSA.

Keep track of all doctor visits and the mileage for 2009 taxes.

Keep thermostat set at 65 degrees F during the winter and 75 degrees F in the summer.
